“It was a great challenge for us to make bags and sneakers with waste PET bottles as a social venture business. It was significant that seven companies, including Lotte Chemical, have come together to create products that can coexist with the environment.”

President Hyo Suk Kye of LAR, an eco-friendly manufacturer of Korea, has been appointed for ‘Project LOOP,’ a project for raising awareness of circular culture and regenerated plastic circular economy. "

‘Project LOOP’ aimed at minimizing the environmental impact and realizing the value of symbiosis. It was managed by LOTTE Chemical and coordinated by Impact Square. Waste PET bottles were collected through ‘Nephron’ developed by Super Bean.

Also, the PET bottles were pulverized and turned into materials by Kumho Fiber Engineering, while Korea Textile Development Institute drew yarns and textiles from them for LAR to produce bags and sneakers. In the beginning of next year, clothing and pouches will be added by the startups of Beyond and Revelop.

“The latest release of eco-friendly products was a meaningful first step for each of the participating companies,” said Director Kyo Hyun Kim. “As Korea’s leading chemical company, we will actively discover and execute eco-friendly projects to coexist with the environment and supply valuable product materials to customers.”

The limited-time products of Project LOOP will be available on LAR’s Website (http://www.larshoes.com) and at the popup store in Sim Office Building in Seongsu-dong.
