LOTTE Chemical has been engaged in the ‘Every Step for Green’ exhibition that introduces the company’s eco-friendly activities at the LOTTE World Tower Arena Plaza from the 19th.

This exhibition that is scheduled to continue until the 27th (Fri) introduces the future business road map such of LOTTE Chemical such as resource circulation activities, hydrogen, and batteries based on the corporate slogan, ‘Every Step for Green.’

The piece that stands out the most in this exhibition is the 16m long and 4m high boat. This boat was created by Lotte Chemical’s in-company venture, LICORN (LOTTE CHEMICAL INVENTIVE UNICORN).

The LICORN Eco Marine Team brainstormed to make improvements to ships being built using aluminum having issues such as the high quantity of marine microplastics generated from painting the ship, difficulty in recycling the hull, and massive fuel consumption due to the heavy hull. Through weatherproofing optimization, a 100% recyclable proprietarily developed HDPE material boat was developed. The ship was named ‘Possibility’ to embody its meaning that it confirmed new possibilities. The Possibility also won the Boat of the Year Award at the Busan International Boat Show in April.

On display next to the Possibility was ‘THING BOX’ developed by the in-company venture LICON Eco Box Team. After thinking about ways to reduce disposable packaging materials, the Eco Box Team developed the THING BOX, which is an ultra-lightweight ice box made with 100% recyclable EPP materials. THING BOX has good durability compared to its lightweight as it uses LOTTE Chemical’s EPP materials, and it also has excellent heat and cool insulation.

LOTTE Chemical also put on display ‘Project LOOP’ that it has been continuously working on since the 2000s to improve awareness on resource circulation. It explains the process of collecting waste plastics, threading, and producing recycled products in an easy-to-understand manner, and it also has on display actual sneakers, eco bags, and LOTTE Giants’ baseball uniforms made by recycling.

On the first day of the exhibition on the 19th, Chairman Shin Dong-bin visited the site and commented, “I believe this is a meaningful exhibition for citizens visiting LOTTE Tower to have fun and easily understand the various eco-friendly activities of LOTTE Chemical,” adding “LOTTE will engage in true ESG management for a sustainable future.”

LOTTE Chemical also held a variety of events for citizens visiting LOTTE World Tower. Last weekend, gifts such as recycled sneakers and eco bags were given through events such as quizzes and roulette to share the importance and meaning of resource circulation in a way that it could be understood easily. A busking performance will be held when people start to get off work.

This exhibition introduces the future green businesses such as hydrogen energy, battery materials, etc. that LOTTE Chemical expects to be future growth businesses. LOTTE Chemical plans to invest a total of 6 trillion KRW and post revenue of 5 trillion KRW by 2030 to build a domestic hydrogen ecosystem and gain leadership in the hydrogen business, while investing 4 trillion KRW to post 5 trillion KRW in revenue to become a global battery materials leader by expanding its battery materials solutions. In addition, it plans to enlarge revenue to 2 trillion KRW by investing 1 trillion KRW by 2030 to become a leader in the age of the circulating economy by expanding its recycled/bioplastic business.
