█ Through quality certification and sampling work spanning for about a year, passed strict material standards of the client company and applied

█ For the first time in Korea in 2020, developed US FDA approved PCR-PP (Post-Consumer Recycled Polypropylene that can be applied

in cosmetic product and food containers

█ Through preemptive technological development in preparation against plastic usage regulations and increased demand for sustainable

packaging containers of global clients, sales for the safe high-value product, cosmetic container PCR-PP, increased by about 40 times

in the first half of 2022 compared to 2020

█ Extended period for using plastic materials by developing various regenerated plastic materials (PCR-PP, rPET, rPP, rABS, rPC, etc.)

while pursuing social values through the Project LOOP activities for constructing a resource circulation system

PP materials (Post-Consumer Recycled Polypropylene) that applied 50% PCR materials, which are LOTTE Chemical’s regenerated material authorized by the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) will be used in products of Japanese clients for the first time and be released in early August.

PP materials applying PCR 50% used in the products of KOSÉ COSMEPORT_(KOSÉ 100% invested subsidiary) acquired FDA approval for application in cosmetic product and food containers for the first time in Korea in ‘20 since its launch in the second half of 2019. And after about three years, sales of this high value product recorded about 40 times growth rate in the first half of 2022 compared to 2020.

LOTTE Chemical passed the strict standards of Japanese clients with especially strict material standards through quality certification and sampling work for over one year, thus being able to spread its sales areas from China and Europe, to include Japan.

PCR-PP is developed with grades containing 30% and 50% plastic recycled materials according to the requests of customers. Domestic and foreign cosmetic product companies are pursuing policies to recycle up to 100% of cosmetic product packaging materials and using products made with plastic recycled materials to up to 50%. In particular, about 60% of domestic cosmetic product containers use plastic materials, and it is estimated that about 30% of these are made with polypropylene (PP) materials.

In addition to preemptive technological development to prepare for increased demand of sustainable materials by clients and global plastic usage regulations, LOTTE Chemical is quickly expanding the supply of various regenerated plastic materials (PCR-PP, rPET, rPP, rABS, rPC, etc.), and it is pursuing company-wide Project LOOP’ to build a plastic circulating system, as it does its best to create a plastic circulating economy culture.

Meanwhile, LOTTE Chemical announced in May that it would stay on pace with resource circulating trends to expand recycled and bio-plastic revenue to 2 trillion KRW and expand the business scope upwards of 1 million tons by 2030.

It plans to △ expand PCR product sales to 440,000 tons through physical recycling such as PC, ABS and PP focusing on client companies in electronics, automobiles, and household appliances in the short term, △ and pursue production of 410,000 tons of chemical recycling such as recycled PET (r-PET) and 150,000 tons of PE/PP productions through the commercialization of pyrolysis technologies in the mid- to long-term by 2030.
