to Develop Anti-virus Plastic Materials

 
█ Acquired world’s first anti-virus certification (ISO 21702) in the synthetic resin material sector this year
█ Pursuing commercialization of plastic materials with strengthened anti-virus performance such as for COVID-19 to antibacterial functions next year

Lotte Chemical will team up with the Korea University Medical Center to develop anti-virus plastic materials. Lotte Chemical signed an MOU with the Korea University Medical Center under the theme ‘Joint Development of New Materials Safe to Use in the COVID-19 Age’ at the Korea University Medical Center main building at Seongbuk-gu, Seoul in the morning of the 28th.

Lotte Chemical Advanced Materials Division CEO Young Joon Lee, Korea University Medical Center Director Young Hoon Kim and other stakeholders attended this MOU ceremony and they agreed to jointly carry out R&D and performance evaluation for anti-virus plastic materials for one year starting this year.

Based on its years of product technology, Lotte Chemical developed and has been supplying anti-bacterial materials that can be applied in plastics and artificial marble including household and bathroom goods, electric and electronic product parts, furniture, etc. Furthermore, it received verification on the anti-virus performance for Influenza A virus in the synthetic resin materials sector last month to obtain the world’s first anti-virus processed product international standard ISO 21702.

Based on the research results with the Korea University Medical Center, it plans to commercialize synthetic resin materials with improved COVID-19 anti-virus performance to contribute to everyday disinfection by next year.
