■ LOTTE Chemical: “Through the continued operation of family-friendly systems, we will lead a model corporate culture where employees can take pride in harmoniously balancing work and family life.”

LOTTE Chemical announced on the 23rd that it has obtained its third consecutive re-certification in the ‘2025 Family-Friendly Certification’ evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

The Family-Friendly Certification is a system that selects companies and institutions that exemplary operate work–life balance policies in accordance with the Act on the Promotion of the Creation of a Family-Friendly Social Environment. First introduced in 2008, the certification is subject to re-evaluation every three years.

In this year’s evaluation, LOTTE Chemical received high scores across assessment categories such as top management leadership, implementation of family-friendly systems, and employee satisfaction. As a result, the company earned its third consecutive family-friendly excellence certification since first being certified in 2014.

To promote work–life balance and enhance employee well-being, LOTTE Chemical operates a wide range of welfare programs, including ▲male parental leave ▲flexible working-hour systems ▲PC-OFF policy ▲medical expense support ▲in-house psychological counseling centers ▲workplace daycare centers ▲child education expense support, among others.

In particular, despite the petrochemical industry’s relatively high proportion of male employees, LOTTE Chemical has successfully fostered a corporate culture that actively encourages and supports childbirth and childcare. As a result, in 2024, 71% of male employees who became fathers took parental leave. In addition, to ensure that both male and female employees can focus on childcare without financial burden, the company provides 100% of ordinary wages during the first month of parental leave.

To further encourage marriage and childbirth, LOTTE Chemical provides marriage congratulatory payments and childbirth allowances. Starting this year, in line with LOTTE Group policies, the company has also introduced support for employees with a third child or more, including the provision of passenger vehicles, as part of its corporate-level efforts to address the low birthrate issue.

A LOTTE Chemical official stated, “Based on our belief that a company can grow together only when employees and their families are happy, we are doing our utmost to operate family-friendly systems,” adding, “In response to the era of low birthrates, we will continue to lead a model corporate culture where employees can take pride in balancing work and family life.”

Meanwhile, in October, LOTTE Chemical was recognized as an outstanding company for actively supporting work–family–life balance at the ‘2025 Child-Friendly Company Awards’ hosted by the Korean Peninsula Population Institute for Future, where it received the Excellence Award (Seoul Metropolitan Government Mayor’s Award).
