LOTTE Chemical announced on the 4th that it has successfully completed the “Island Village Environmental Playground” environmental education program for children in island regions, which was conducted over four months from November 2025 to February 2026.

The program began with a memorandum of understanding signed in October last year among LOTTE Chemical, the Korea Childcare Promotion Institute, and Kokkiri Factory. It was designed to raise awareness of marine ecosystem protection and the importance of resource circulation among children at nine educational institutions, including daycare centers, kindergartens, and elementary schools in island areas near Yeosu, Jeollanam-do. In particular, the program provided opportunities for children to directly experience and learn about environmental protection through resource circulation education using PET collection machines and a variety of hands-on activities utilizing discarded toys.

LOTTE Chemical was responsible for the comprehensive planning and sponsorship of the education program, while the Korea Childcare Promotion Institute handled the selection of educational institutions and program promotion. Kokkiri Factory managed the detailed operations. The three organizations cooperated closely to enhance efficiency.

Representatives from educational institutions in the island regions that participated in the program responded positively, stating, “This program provided practical help in reducing the educational gap between island regions, where opportunities are relatively limited, and urban areas,” and adding, “Local children were able to joyfully learn while experiencing firsthand the importance of protecting the environment.”

A LOTTE Chemical representative said, “We are pleased to provide quality environmental education opportunities to children in island regions.” “As part of our ESG management efforts, we will continue to carry out social responsibility activities with local communities to protect the environment and contribute to regional development.”
