LOTTE Chemical announced that it has won two Red Dot Design Award 2026 Winners, one of the world's three most prestigious design awards.
Established in Germany in 1955, the Red Dot Design Award is one of the world's most renowned international design competitions, alongside Germany's iF Design Award and the United States' IDEA Design Award. LOTTE Chemical received two Winner awards in the "Material and Surfaces" category of the Design Concept discipline. Since 2015, the company has earned a total of 28 awards across the world's three leading design competitions, once again demonstrating its differentiated global competitiveness in materials design. This year's award-winning concepts are distinguished by the integration of design-specialized AI agents throughout the entire development process, enabling a sophisticated fusion of advanced material properties with the latest design trends. The achievement also reflects the company's broader AI transformation strategy, as LOTTE Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin has consistently emphasized AI-driven innovation and enhanced business competitiveness during key management meetings.
The award-winning concept "Soft Robotics" is a robotics-focused design solution that combines scratch-resistant plastic materials with lighting effects to maximize light reflection and diffusion. By integrating advanced color reproduction and lighting technologies, it creates emotional interaction between humans and robots through material design. The solution is applicable to robotics and humanoid exteriors, mobility products, and other advanced industrial applications.
Another award-winning concept, "Beat Plus" is a paint-free design solution that visualizes a natural stone texture by incorporating recycled particles derived from aircraft components into plastic materials. Developed as a PFAS-free material, it complies with increasingly stringent global environmental regulations while ensuring enhanced human safety. The material is suitable for a wide range of products where premium exterior design is essential, including outdoor speakers, home appliances, IT devices, and mobile products.
LOTTE Chemical stated, "This recognition reflects our proactive adoption of AI agents specialized for design, enabling us to maximize the functionality, aesthetics, and emotional appeal of our materials. Going forward, we will continue to provide intelligent integrated solutions that combine materials, design, and AI, based on close collaboration and communication with our customers."
