Best of the Best’: Multi layered 3D lighting effect

Three awards including Material and Surface ‘Best of the Best’ in the Design Concept Sector
Created completely new lighting effect with transparent materials having outstanding optical properties
 
LOTTE Chemical announced that it won a total of three awards including ‘Best of the Best’ in the 2020 Red Dot Design Award.
 
The Red Dot Design Award began in 1955 as an award overseen by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen of Germany and it is one of the top 3 industrial design awards of the world together with IDEA(International Design Excellence Awards) of the US and the iF(International Forum) Design Awards of Germany.
 
This year’s award reviewed the mass produced products or scheduled-to-be-released products from about 4,200 companies worldwide, and only 42 companies won the honor of ‘Best of the Best’. 
 
The three materials that were awarded were transparent materials with outstanding optical properties. It is a design solution configured as a new lighting effect by integrating various techniques, and it can be applied in self-driving mobility that highlights lighting, AI-equipped ICT, household appliances, etc.
 
『The Multi-layered 3D Lighting Effect』 that won ‘Best of the Best’ expressed unexpected light refraction and pattern effects by integrating transparent materials with the fusion technique called laser welding, while the 『Kiriko Effect』 and 『Moire Effect』 that won ‘Winner’ awards also created unique exteriors and lighting effects by combining the patterns of the surface of transparent materials with light.
 
LOTTE Chemical CEO Lee Young-jun, who leads the Advanced Materials business said, “This award is an example of efforts for maximizing aesthetics on functionalities of the advanced products of LOTTE Chemical,” and added, “We will continue to strive to develop unique designs and to satisfy customer needs by systematically and continuously keeping an eye on trends.” 
 
Meanwhile, LOTTE Chemical is working hard on not only developing advanced material technologies, but also integrating distinguished and future-oriented designs to enhance the competitiveness of customer products
