LOTTE Chemical and Bumhan Pure Cell signed an ‘MOU for Carbon Neutralization and Eco-friendly Partnership’ at Bumban Pure Cell’s head office in Changwon, Gyeongnam on the 27th. Executive Director Kim Youn Seop, LOTTE Chemical’s ESG Manager, and CEO Jeong Youngsik of Bumhan Pure Cell attended the ceremony to sign the MOU.

With the MOU the companies will use their own knowhow and infrastructures mutually effectively for the expansion of hydrogen value chain to establish carbon neutralization and eco-friendly partnership and revitalize the hydrogen economy.

LOTTE Chemical and Bumhan Pure Cell are planning to cooperate in various areas, including ▲ hydrogen fuel cell generation, ▲ businesses related to hydrogen fuel cells, and ▲ other businesses using the infrastructures, through joint development and investment in the eco-friendly technologies.

“It is a great pleasure for us to enter into this MOU between LOTTE Chemical and Bumhan Pure Cell for the expansion of Korea’s hydrogen infrastructure,’ said Executive Director Kim Youn Seop, LOTTE Chemical’s ESG Manager. “We believe that the companies would contribute to revitalizing the eco-friendly hydrogen economy in the fast-growing hydrogen ecosystem through mutual cooperation.”

“The MOU will be the starting point of our cooperation with LOTTE Chemical and take us to great development of the eco-friendly hydrogen industry in Korea,” said CEO Jeong Youngsik of Bumhan Pure Cell.

In addition, LOTTE Chemical announced last July ‘Every Step for H2,’ the eco-friendly hydrogen growth roadmap to realize carbon neutralization growth by 2030 and supply 30% of hydrogen consumed in Korea. In response to the expansion of Korea’s hydrogen car market, the pilot facilities for mass production of hydrogen tanks will be completed during the first half of 2022 and strategic steps will be continued for the development of hydrogen technologies based on the existing capacities, e.g., certification of hydrogen tanks, etc.
