LOTTE Chemical has been supporting the Mom Comfort Music Game Program since 2018 and up to last year about 600 people including around 500 child patients, 70 family members, and 30 rehabilitation therapists participated in the music game class. The child patients who participated in the class showed improved physical abilities and emotional stability, while their guardians also exhibited reduced depression and stress. Its effects were also proven in the results of the study sponsored by LOTTE Chemical and carried out by the Korean Music Therapy Association (Effect of Therapeutic Keyboard Training Program on The Hand Functions and Self-Efficacy of Children with Cerebral Palsy: Preliminary Study).

A guardian of a five-year-old patient that participated in the class said, “I could see my child’s emotions become stable and have more facial expressions while taking the Mom Comfort Music Game Class,” and added, “This was a needed and useful class for my child that was stressed out because of being hospitalized and treatment.”

Yoon Min-i, a physical therapist at Bobath Children’s Hospital Rehabilitative Medicine, said, “Children who used to get irritated and cry during therapy had the experience of enjoying the use of their hands and feet through music games, while gaining strength in their trunk, and I also witness functional improvements such as maintaining posture and balance.” Yoon added, “I learned that the synergy effect of music and physical therapy was very effective for the motor development and game development of children with developmental disabilities.”

LOTTE Chemical also donated around 30 paintings to LOTTE Medical Foundation as well. The paintings will be hung at Bobath Memorial Hospital and Bobath Children’s Hospital, and it is expected to help with the emotional development and psychological stability of patients at the hospitals.
