LOTTE Chemical Acquires Global Sustainability Eco-Friendly Materials Certification

‘ISCC PLUS’ (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification PLUS) 

■ Obtained international eco-friendly product certification for seven products such as PE (Polyethylene), PP (Polypropylene), PC (Polycarbonate),

   etc... Contributing to eco-friendly products of clients by using ISCC certified pyrolysis oil naphtha raw materials acquired through chemical recycling

   of waste plastics      

■ Reducing carbon emissions and increasing ESG competitiveness of customer products by producing materials using eco-friendly raw materials 

■ LOTTE Chemical systematically manages impact and risk on the environment and society throughout the entire process ranging from raw materials,

    sales, use, and disposal of products

Seven synthetic resin products of LOTTE Chemical received the international eco-friendly product certification, ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification). 

ISCC Plus certification is a renewable energy policy standard of the European Union that internationally certifies that eco-friendly materials were used throughout the manufacturing process of products, and over 130 petrochemical companies and raw material manufacturers, etc. around the world have joined as member companies. 

The products that were newly certified of LOTTE Chemical are petrochemical raw materials such as PE (Polyethylene), PP (Polypropylene), PC (Polycarbonate), BD (Butadiene), and PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) products, and synthetic resin products such as ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), and compound PC product, and it uses ISCC certified pyrolysis oil naphtha raw materials obtained through chemical recycling of waste plastics. 

Therefore, it is expected to not only reduce carbon emissions for customers that are expanding production of eco-friendly low-carbon products, as well as ESG competitiveness of customer products.

LOTTE Chemical is systematically managing the impact and risk on the environment and society throughout the entire process of product raw materials, sales, use, disposal, etc., and this recent eco-friendly material certification represents the acquisition of objectivity from authorized institutes, and therefore, it is significant in that it will be possible to secure competitiveness ahead of others in the eco-friendly polymer market.

Meanwhile, LOTTE Chemical plans to test out pyrolysis naphtha through chemical recycling this year, produce and supply approximately 50,000 tons of eco-friendly synthetic resin products by 2025, and expand the pyrolysis business in 2030 to increase the scope of the business to about 150,000 tons.
